1st year is almost over!
Hello everyone!
We are really getting down to the last few weeks of school with only 5 school days until our graduation. It has been a whirlwind since we arrived back in Redding after our Mission trips (more on them later) and it has certainly made us miss Australia and are very much looking forward to heading home for a few months in June.
Before we share about our mission trips we want to take a moment to let you know of our current need. We truly believe that God bought us here to BSSM for so many reasons and he has done so many incredible things in our hearts and lives! It has of course not been without it's challenges and one of our biggest has been our finances. We have done everything we possibly could to allow God to use our assets and what we have worked for to pay for this adventure but for whatever reason he has chosen not to.
God has been so faithful to us providing for us in so many different ways. We have a huge need right now to finish paying for Charlee and Declan's school fees, our last 2 months rent and some outstanding bills coming to over 10k in Australian dollars. Yes, it sounds like a lot but we are asking if God places it in your heart to help us, or want any more information then you can contact us at dehaasfamilyadventures@gmail.com. We can give you any details you would like (please do not respond to this email - it does not come to us and I have no idea where it goes!)
Onto what we have been up to:
After 'Snowmageddon' (Snow day - checkout our last post!) as it is fondly referred to here, school has felt like it changed a lot with content and subject matter shifting gear to when we go on missions, leave school, or go onto second year. They prepared us so well to go on our mission trips and we spent many a night or Sunday afternoon at a mission meeting to get ready!
I (Eloise) did however not prepare myself as well as I should and was certainly overwhelmed by what met me on the other side of the US border, With a shift from 1st world to borderline 3rd world in Tijuana, Mexico. At one of our last meetings it was mentioned that Tijuana is the murder capital of the world ........and that we were coming to bring hope! Wow, what an incredible hope bringing time that it was.
Unfortunately on the morning of our departure I hurt my back quite badly and was in an intense amount of pain and I felt every minute of the travel on bus, plane and in the van! Of course everyone in my team prayed for me multiple times, but unfortunately there was no instant healing! It forced me to take it easy the first few days of the trip including resting (laying down) and walking as much as I could manage. I did not allow it to hold me back though and spent time interceding for my team while they were gone and getting God's heart for Tijuana.
We spent a lot of our ministry time in small churches training the leaders in the prophetic and in evangelism. It was so incredible to watch the people with such hungry hearts receive and be blessed by the training we offered. I absolutely loved having the opportunity to prophecy over people with hope and destiny. I remember multiple times women in tears would say to me that the word I had shared with them touched their hearts deeply and was what they needed to hear, Yay Jesus!
On our last night in Tijuana we went to a healing meeting we were told that the Pastor had announced to the congregation 'bring any sick people you know so they can get healed' : No pressure right! God showed up big time and we really saw the miraculous happen, I prayed for a lady with Colitis. When I started to pray for her her belly was huge and so tight, as I laid my hands and prayed we (my interpreter and I) physically saw her belly shrink and become jelly like. She said she felt like fire in her belly and was convinced that she was completely healed and was going to go to the doctor to be tested! I don't know if she was fully healed but I sure know that something happened that night in her life!
On our rest day we went to the beach right where the Border to the US is. Its the only place for miles where the fences on the US side and the Mexico side are together (mostly there is about 500m between the fences) so people from both sides come to meet with family or friends who are on the other side and also to occasionally try and scale the 'wall' into the US. You could really feel the tension and sadness in the air while we were there it was quite a moving experience. The 'wall' is graffited with peoples stories and their stance against the immigration policy (you can see this in the picture)
The people of Tijuana sure captured my heart and I absolutely fell in love with the beautiful and brave women in Tijuana, I can definitely see myself going back there on a mission again!
I also had experience doing street evangelism for the first time. We went to the local mall and The main University in Chile. It was incredible seeing people encounter the Father's love whether through healing or experiencing his presence. One guy a team mate and I met at the University had a tendon injury in his left leg, causing him to require a crutch to walk. We prayed for him a couple of times, and his pain went down from 8/10 to no pain!! He ended up being able to walk without his crutch with no pain. He then told us he was about to have an exam, and asked if we could pray for him. After praying for a few minutes, he said he felt extreme peace and left for is exam in joy! Praise God! Who knew evangelism could be so much fun.
Thank you so much to all those who donated and helped us to go on our mission trips, it was such an amazing blessing to the people in these countries and God was truly glorified all over the earth!
Looking ahead we will graduate first year on May 7th in the morning (which is in the wee hrs of May 8th in Australia). If you have a Bethel TV subscription you should be able to watch it after the event is done, contact us and we'll tell you how far through we walk across the stage as I'm sure you don't want to sit through 700 (and that is just the first half) other students graduating too! If there will be any other way to watch I will try and let you all know as soon as I can.
We have both been accepted into 2nd year of BSSM and we really believe that God is behind our decision to return here for a second year. There are a lot of things that need to come into place for an easy return but we are believing that God has it all in hand. We will be working over the summer (winter!) but we will also love to spend time with friends and family too. Our second year tuition links are up and active so if you would wish to sow into that you can follow the links below:

Please continue to pray for us as we finish this year well but especially as we plan for our 2nd year:
Pray for housing for us, finances (nothing has changed there!), work over the Summer/Winter for Chris, an ease of transition for Charlee and Declan.
We are looking for somewhere to stay in June when we are home if you are heading to warmer weather for the winter or have a house that we could stay in then please get in touch with us at dehaasfamilyadventures@gmail.com.
We will make sure to post again after graduation to tell you all about our last couple of weeks,
Thank you for all your prayers and support we really appreciate it and are sending you all love!
Looking forward to seeing you all soon,
Elle, Chris, Charlee and Declan x

| Chris' Chile Team |
I (Chris) went on my mission trip to Santiago in Chile, with 23 other incredible people from BSSM. The weather was amazing and it was nice to be back in the Southern Hemisphere for a bit! The main focus for the trip was healing and evangelism. We led a healing seminar a couple of times at a Church called La Trinidad. People were healed from things like: knee pain, back pain, tinnitus and food intolerances!

We also got an experience ministering at a Bethel Music night. We went out in pairs to pray and prophesy over people in the crowd. One lady came up to the person I was paired with and told her she was in a lot of pain from arthritis. The person I was paired with said a short prayer over her, and then suddenly this lady (probably in her 70's) started jumping up and down, as all the pain had left her body. I tell you, seeing miracles like this leaves you speechless!
Our time in Chile definitely left a mark on me. It is humbling, after being back for two weeks, to be still hearing reports about how this trip impacted people's lives.
