Color run, Graduation and the countdown is on.........
Wow, what a busy few weeks we have had since our last blog post! Thank you so much to those of you who got in touch with us after our last post it was so nice to hear from you!
Charlee and Declan completed their first Color Run as a fundraiser for their school! It was a very warm but beautiful day and they had a lot of fun! They both raised enough money to receive rewards of t-shirts, sunglasses, no homework passes and also an Ice cream treat in a couple weeks! You can see them in action in the photos attached!
The whole event was a huge success for the school raising over $60 k in total.
May 7th was a huge day for us with our graduation from 1st year BSSM. After 9 months of school, about 13+ books read, lots of homework and many many friends made we received our certificate! The actual ceremony was a bit of a crazy whirlwind! We were the first revival group to graduate, mostly I would think, thanks to our Pastors wife being a week overdue with their 2nd baby! But it meant it was all over so fast we were back in our seats trying to catch up with what had just happened!
It was an absolute honor to walk across the stage and receive congratulations from Dann Farrely, Kris Vallotton, Bill Johnson, our Revival Group Pastor (RGP) Golibe Omenaka and the 1st year overseers! It really brought home the truth that we have been students to some incredible people the last 9 months. The truth really is that we have been students to God, the same God who worked through Jesus, who works through them, works through us - wow a humbling moment for sure!
It was such an honor to sit in the room and watch people that we have gotten to know, through friendship, mission trips and classes also graduate and cheer them on especially when many of us had no family present to celebrate with us!
I have added some photos of significant people in our year all taken on our graduation day.
Now........the pack up begins and the countdown is on to our return home in early June! We have really been longing to be back in Aus for a few weeks, we really love Australia and are so looking forward to seeing family and friends for a few weeks.
In case you missed it last time we will be returning for a 2nd year of schooling here in Redding. It is a huge faith step for us but we believe that this is what God has for us next and he certainly hasn't told us not to do it so we trust that he has all the plans in hand.
We would love if you would join in prayer with us for a few things!
- A place to live in 2nd year, we have a lot of peace about giving up the unit we have been living in this year as it has been tough on the kids because of small space and lack of yard; we would love to have a house next year.
- Charlee and Declan would finish school well and transition well to the long summer holidays, also that they would get the perfect fit for teacher at school next year.
- Finances - we still need a bit of money to finish this year well and then onto prayer for what God has for next year.
- Our journey home - pray that it would be smooth and uneventful!
Thank you for following our first year journey with us, we look forward to all God has for us in 2nd year! If you wish to get in contact with us you can do at dehaasfamilyadventures@gmail.com (remember don't respond to this email we do not receive it!)
Blessings to you in Jesus name,
Elle and Chris
